Useful Q&A removes ambiguity. Promotional Q&A merely repeats positioning.
Q&A is one of the easiest ways to make product knowledge explicit.
It is also one of the easiest formats to ruin.
Bad Q&A exists because marketing wants another place to repeat the headline. Useful Q&A exists because a customer has a real question.
The test
Before a question earns a place on the page, ask one thing.
Would a skeptical buyer plausibly ask this?
If not, the question may be promotional theater.
Weak
Why is Smart Forecasting revolutionary? Smart Forecasting transforms the way modern teams unlock revenue intelligence with AI.
Useful
What data does Smart Forecasting use? Smart Forecasting uses opportunity stage, historical close rates, deal value, expected close date, and selected CRM fields configured by administrators.
The weak version created almost no new information. The useful answer contains facts an evaluator, human or machine, can actually use.
Seven useful question types
Most genuinely useful feature questions fall into a small number of categories. Cover the ones that matter for your capability.
1. Definition
- What does this feature do?
- What problem does it solve?
2. Audience
- Who is this designed for?
- Which teams typically use it?
3. Function
- How does it work?
- Which inputs does it use?
- What happens after a rule matches?
4. Compatibility
- Does it integrate with Salesforce?
- Which SSO providers are supported?
5. Availability
- Which plans include it?
- Is it available in all regions?
- Is it generally available or beta?
6. Constraints
- What are the limits?
- What does it not support?
- Are there prerequisites?
7. Comparison
- How is this different from Feature B?
- When should I use one workflow instead of another?
Limitations create trust
Marketing teams often avoid negative statements.
But a clear limitation can make a page more useful.
Regional Forecasting supports team and territory segmentation. Custom geographic polygons are not currently supported.
That one sentence can prevent leads that were never a fit, support confusion, AI hallucination, and sales overpromising.
Q&A is not keyword stuffing
Do not create thirty variations of the same question.
A compact set of distinct questions is more useful, for readers and for retrieval alike.
Use language customers use
Product teams often speak internal language. Customers may use category language. Include both where appropriate.
Can Smart Routing route leads based on region?
Yes. Smart Routing can use geographic fields, territory assignment, and selected CRM attributes as rule conditions.
That answer connects the internal feature name to the external problem.
Make answers stand on their own
Weak
Yes, it can.
Better
Yes. Smart Routing can assign inbound requests by region, account tier, request type, or selected CRM fields.
Retrieval systems may extract one passage rather than present the full page. An answer that depends on the paragraph above it loses its meaning the moment it travels alone.
Q&A and structured data are not the same thing
Write Q&A because it helps people.
Do not assume ordinary FAQ material belongs in QAPage schema. Google's QAPage structured data is intended for pages centered on a single question with answers submitted by users, and Google deprecated FAQ rich results in 2026.
The content value remains either way.
Keep Q&A alive
Questions should evolve with the feature.
When customers repeatedly ask something in sales calls or support tickets, add it. When a limitation disappears, update the answer.
Questions people ask
- How many questions should a feature page include?
- Enough to cover meaningful ambiguity. Five to ten strong questions is often better than dozens of repetitive ones.
- Should answers be short?
- Concise, but complete enough to stand alone where possible. A retrieval system may lift a single answer out of the page, so each one should make sense on its own.
- Should we expose limitations?
- Yes, when they materially affect fit or usage. A clear limitation prevents confusion later and makes the rest of the page more credible.
- Should Q&A be generated automatically?
- AI can help draft questions and identify gaps, but product facts should be reviewed by people who know the product before they publish.
